Operations Management is the effective planning, organization and control of the resources and activities needed to provide customers with goods and services. This encompasses a broad range of functions including the provision of raw materials, manufacturing, assembly and distribution of finished goods to the client. With the increasing use of subcontractors in disparate locations for many business functions and the continual drive for shorter lead-times, this supply-chain network is a critical factor in business success. Lyon a management school in France. Prior to that he taught at both the University of California, and the California State University. He has spent over 18 years in industry in strategic planning, finance, marketing, operations, engineering, and construction including projects in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the USA. He has Ph.D. and B.Sc. engineering degrees from England, and a MBA, and a BA (French) from the USA. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the UK Institution of Chemical Engineers.
