Abstract
"This case is the second in a two case series. The case describes the next steps in the successful Business-NGO alliance between ENECO, an energy utility in the Netherlands and WWF and illustrates how a Business-NGO alliance can evolve over time as the goals of each partner changes. In 2014, Eneco and WNF decided to reformulate their alliance and move beyond showcasing Eneco to embark on a better understanding of how Eneco’s business could become even more sustainable in the longer term. This new alliance was named as 'One Planet Thinking'. At the same time a ground breaking National Energy Agreement was signed in November 2013 committing the Netherlands to a wholly sustainable energy supply by 2050. As a result, all of Eneco’s competitors were racing to catch up and investing heavily in renewable energy. To stay ahead Eneco needed to further change its business model and involve additional partners."
