Abstract
This case illustrates the development of Haier, a leading Chinese appliance manufucaturer over the past three decades and its ablity to adapt to the changing times through its four-stage strategy evolution. The case focuses on the innovative organizational structure, the inverted triangle structure, which is designed to create an autonomy, agile and fast-reacting organization to serve customer needs with zero distance in the age of Internet. It also shows how innovation plays a role in the organizational design. This case is appropriate for students who have basic understanding of organizational structure.
