Abstract
This case is about management accounting and management accounting systems. It shows how decision support systems can be used for planning purposes. Ooh Dining is a world leader in the field of system restaurant. More than 20,000 restaurants are operated in more than 100 countries. Ooh dining has developed three strong brands. In South and Central America, the Manager wants to improve the area budget process and the reporting system to support the growth of the business. Students are asked to make a diagnosis of the management accounting system and to make recommendations on the possible contribution of Decision Support Systems with regards to the objectives of the management. The case should be used in a management accounting class where the subject of relationships between management accounting and information systems are addressed. The case requires preparation outside class in workgroups. The main output is a presentation in class. The lecturer has to have knowledge in management accounting and some basic knowledge in information systems.
