Abstract
"This article proposes a comparative and historical study of the mobilization factors (Davis & Thompson, 1994) around codetermination in France and Germany. Political opportunity, the shared interests of actors, the presence of a social infrastructure, the dynamics of mobilization, and the presence of a supporting institution allowed codetermination to take root in Germany (Gomez & Wirtz, 2018). These ingredients were not present in France despite an original reflection on the nature of companies justifying codetermination. We thus contribute to the understanding of the institutionalization of a political ideology and show how two countries that are relatively close politically can take different trajectories."
