Abstract
Most investors in equities are interested in the long-term growth prospects in firm earnings and therefore stock price appreciation. Indeed, over the long term an investor can anticipate higher expected returns in equities as compared to a bond investment. With a 30+ year investment horizon, a young investor can reasonably argue he/she is not concerned by market timing equity purchases and sales.
