Abstract
While previous studies have examined the effectiveness of IT resources in the IT assimilation process, CEO support of IT has not been integrated into. We thereby investigate the IT assimilation process by explaining how CEO support of IT moderates the relationship between IT resources and IT business spanning capability (ITBSC). Based on a multi-industry survey, we empirically show CEO support differentially moderates the impact of IT infrastructure and human resources, highlight CEO support can substitute the positive effects of IT infrastructure resources, and demonstrate that IT infrastructure has a positive effect on ITBSC only under low levels of CEO support.
