Nicolas BERLAND is Dean of Executive Education. He specializes in management control and organizational performance management. His approach is firmly focused on studying how management control relates to strategic processes and corporate management processes.
His research has led him to examine the history of management control practices, the financialization of control, experiences of Beyond Budgeting, control practices in CSR, and the implementation of management control in the public sector, for example in the French National Police.
He has notably published Contrôle de gestion, perspectives stratégiques et managériales with Pearson and Contrôle de gestion in the Que sais-je ? collection. He has been a member of the scientific council of the DFCG, the French association of finance directors and management controllers.
He was previously Professor at Université Paris Dauphine, where he managed the Executive MBA, the Executive Master in Finance and Corporate Performance Management, and the China EDBA. He was Director of DRM, Dauphine Recherches en Management, until December 2018, and Vice-President for Finance and Corporate Relations of the University from 2020 to 2024. He is an alumnus of the École Normale Supérieure de Cachan.
