Expertise

Olivia Deuschle is a postdoctoral researcher at the STORM Research Center. She holds a PhD in Management from Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. Her research explores nascent technologies and social change in peripheral contexts, using qualitative methods—typically single-case study designs—to examine extreme cases at the margins of established fields. Her doctoral thesis examined two cases: a Bhutanese organization developing IoT, AI, and blockchain technologies to empower local communities, and the global biohacking community experimenting with cutting-edge biotechnologies outside traditional labs. Both cases speak to how nascent technologies expand imaginable futures at the margins.
